The class of men recruited renders it impossible to require them to wear cast-off clothing, as is done in the Police Force with Chinese and Indians.

Having regard to the changing nature of the British Community, the Committee note that since the re-organization of the Corps 299 men have passed through the ranks, the present strength is 175.

The Committee are of opinion that the Grants and allowances to the Corps should be assimilated so as to more nearly accord with the Regulations for the Volunteer Force in Great Britain.
13.
Under the Volunteer Regulations in Great Britain an allowance of £20 towards cost of outfit is made by Government to each Officer on first appointment. The Committee recommend that an adequate grant should be similarly made here.
14.
At present, in addition to clothing, the principal expenses are a. Cost Instructors.
b. Repair and upkeep of arms.
c. Ammunition, Gun and small arm.
d. Transport.
e. Camp of Exercise.
f. Adjutant and Corps Quarter Master Sergeant.
The cost of Instructors is necessarily heavy, the Corps
